CWC Press Release – Defending Ireland’s Communities
A new partnership between the trade unions and the community & voluntary sector is to protest against the Government’s intention to cut a further €3billion in the forthcoming budget and to prioritise the community sector for these cuts. Defending Ireland’s Communities will be organising events all around the country to highlight the growing threat to the community and voluntary sector in the upcoming budget. CWC Statement on the ICTU Get Up Stand Up Campaign
Members of the CWC marched to support the Get Up Stand Up campaign all over the country. Addressing the 5,000 people in Galway City, Ann Irwin, CWC National Co-ordinator stated that, in marching with the public and private sectors, the Community Sector were expressing their right to be heard. CWC Press Release – National Stakeholder’s Meeting Feb ’10
In February 2010, the participants of the national meeting of stakeholders in community development (December '09) reconvened. Again organised by the Community Workers' Cooperative(CWC), the meeting was attended by over seventy people representing a wide range of stakeholders in community development. At the meeting it was unanimously agreed that the CWC would issue a statement on behalf of those attending.

A national meeting of stakeholders in community development was held in Dublin on December 17th 2009. Organised by the Community Workers' Co-operative (CWC), the meeting was attended by a large number and a wide range of stakeholders in community development.
