CWC Press Release – Defending Ireland’s Communities
A new partnership between the trade unions and the community & voluntary sector is to protest against the Government’s intention to cut a further €3billion in the forthcoming budget and to prioritise the community sector for these cuts. Defending Ireland’s Communities will be organising events all around the country to highlight the growing threat to the community and voluntary sector in the upcoming budget. CWC Statement on the ICTU Get Up Stand Up Campaign
Members of the CWC marched to support the Get Up Stand Up campaign all over the country. The Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs, Pat Carey, has said that Community Development Projects (CDPs) and Local Development Companies (LDCs) have 'nothing to fear' from the new LCDP model of integration which is being applied to the sector.
